Gorgeous actress Aishwarya Rai is set to play the role of Dalbir Kaur in ‘SARABJIT’ Biopic.
Directed by Omung Kumar, the upcoming movie ‘SARABJIT’ is a biopic on the Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh who died in a Pakistani prison in 2013. The director is quite confident that Aishwarya is the right choice for the role of Sarabjit Singh’s sister.
Sarabjit Singh – an Indian citizen, was convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court and was sentenced to death in 1991 but the government had stayed his execution for an indefinite period in 2008. His sister Dalbir fought for the release of her brother from the Jail of Lahore but her quest ended tragically when he died in 2013 following a brutal attack by fellow prisoners.
“The role demanded a very strong character with a powerful aura, and Aishwarya perfectly fits the bill. She has given spectacular performances in all her previous movies and we are confident that she will do justice to this role”, said the producer of the movie Sandeep Singh. The director told that the actress was very impressed when he narrated the role to her. “She was in tears, and immediately said ‘Yes’”, said the director.
“She is a fabulous actress who can do justice to this demanding role”, he further added.
