Shooting of movie Piku has now been completed and it is on its promotional stage. This week, actor Irrfan Khan appeared on Koel Purie Rinchet show couching with Koel for promotion of Piku.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the story of the movie is based on beautiful relationship of a father (Amitabh Bachchan) and daughter (Deepika Padukone). Working as the lead in the movie Irrfan Khan gets reminded of his mother as well as his children. Irfan said, “I am a responsible son. I have a strange relationship with my mother. We argue a lot. Our thought processes never gel and yet we openly have all kinds of conversation. including sex. I am very different as a father. I hate studies and look for excuses not to send my kids to school. I believe space for dialogue with your kids should be open all the time.”
Irrfan Khan is very positive in life. “My drive was to get into cinema. But looking at my face I would try to find a reference point: did anyone have this kind of face before me? I would ask myself, and I never found a reference. The closest I could think of was Mithun Chakraborty.”
Decision of being an actor made Irrfan Khan a practical man. “When I dreamt of becoming an actor I started out with certain things I wanted to do. But life taught me certain things along the way, like don’t take your plans too seriously all the times. Life already has a design for you. You job is just to recognize those nudges that come your way, ” he added.
His work is his strength. “I have to rely on my work. My work is my strength even though sometimes it is not fun doing it. Yet you want to do it. I have my own price. I don’t believe in categories, ” he said.
A person’s real ability and talent cannot be taken away by anything. “Salman or Shah Rukh are not there because their surname is Khan. They are there because of their connection with the audience. They would be who they are even if their surname was Tripathi,” he said.
